Really impressed

Bought this and another mic to try and find my favorite replacement for the mic I've been using for a while. There are a lot of really great things to say about this mic. For the price and coupon, this is significantly better than the mics that come with random mounts and accessories. Shots are really great even without postage work. This is a definite improvement. It has two polar patterns: omni for recordings from the side (e.g. interview/podcast) and cardioid for recordings from the front. Both have their own gain settings with muting in between. Works very well. Microphone amplification is a really big deal. I'm glad mics in this price range now include it. There's also a headphone/line out for easy monitoring and a front panel knob for volume control. There wasn't much delay from mouth to ears, so it's entirely comparable to other mics. No monitoring problems. RGB lighting is a nice touch. They look pretty cool and not too flashy. Can't switch to a specific color (at least I haven't figured out how), but it doesn't matter. Looks great with my setup. The microphone can also be rotated on the stand. It has a ball mount in the microphone so you can easily mount it at different angles no matter what you mount it on. I LOVE this feature. I wish more mics would do that. This is next level design. The base is strong and heavy. Has a clean thread for attaching a microphone. It's a bit low but looks nice and makes a nice change from standard bases. A+ Where it really shines is in the sound quality. This mic beats everything I've tried in the sub-$100 range. My voice actually sounds like the voice I hear when I speak. The gain controls keep the sound from peaking and it really works. One thing I did notice, however, is that if I put it on my desk a few feet away from me with the gain on, it picks up some of the room echo. It can be fixed in the post so it's not a big deal. However, for best results, it should definitely be placed on a hand closer to the face so that the gain doesn't increase too much. After spending a week with it I think this mic is a keeper. This is perfect for streaming on a budget.
