Flush that - a lot - and you will have no problems. I have a pico aquarium with this sand, a piece of soft fan coral and marimo in it. Before adding the marimo, I rinsed the sand for about 20 minutes before the water ran clear. I poured the sand I wanted to use into the tank (it was easy enough for me because of the small size of the tank, but the same principle would work well in Homer's bucket) and then used my hands to douse sand over it constantly with cold water to move. Yes, I lost some sand, but these are particles that would otherwise be floating around in your tank, so wash them out right away. Now every time I do a water change I can just pour water straight into the tank and not worry about the sandy bottom tipping over because the water doesn't get cloudy at all. I think the reviewers who complain about cloudy water didn't clean it thoroughly before setting up their tank. It takes time, but it's not hard and it's just a matter of moving the sand while running water through it until the sand stops floating. The photo I've attached shows my Marimo tank after a complete water change. as described above (only run full capacity water into the tank). The photo was taken about 5 minutes after the exchange was completed. The specs are micro air bubbles in the tank but the water is crystal clear.
