Gorgeous colour, natural look, perfect grit

This sand has an amazing natural color and grit. I only had to wash it once before the water ran clear. The grains are large enough to be detected but soft enough for burrowing fish to burrow into comfortably. I've never had a problem with cloudy water after a water change. I really like that the color is not entirely uniform, which gives it a natural biotope look.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • volume

Good Product - Gravel

Bought this for my 10 gallon tank to switch from gravel. I thought that would do, but I was wrong, probably just out of ignorance (all my other tanks have gravel). Anyway, I went to my local pet store to get another sandbag and found that it's a lot cheaper to buy locally. That aside, the quality seems excellent and it's a very pleasant color. The fish are happy with the changes so far!

Pros
  • Excellent Construction
Cons
  • Very Expensive

A good product. Best in Gravel

Good Product. I rinsed it in batches and rinsed them 10 times at a time. I tossed about 5 pounds into a bucket, attached the hose to the bottom, moved in a circular motion, moved sand, picked up loose dirt and drained muddy water and repeated this process about 10 times. After rinsing, I slowly added water to the tank with a gravel vacuum and added grout and the results were crystal clear. I think people who got bad results cut corners.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Useless Features

It's not worth it. Get some sand from petco or petsmart.

This is definitely not worth the money. 12 bucks for what? Can a small 10.5 x 7.5 inch bag weighing 5 pounds be bought at your local pet store for less than a dollar? That sand doesn't look very good either. If you want to naturally achieve a natural river look and have a 5 gallon aquarium, this sand is perfect for you. But look. The bag is tiny, smaller than one of those big ziploc bags, and the sand isn't even packed to the brim. Your best bet is to just buy a 20 lb bag of Petco Black Sand…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Expensive

After cleaning, the water becomes crystal clear

Flush that - a lot - and you will have no problems. I have a pico aquarium with this sand, a piece of soft fan coral and marimo in it. Before adding the marimo, I rinsed the sand for about 20 minutes before the water ran clear. I poured the sand I wanted to use into the tank (it was easy enough for me because of the small size of the tank, but the same principle would work well in Homer's bucket) and then used my hands to douse sand over it constantly with cold water to move. Yes, I lost some…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are problems
