I bought this stem to solve a problem. The bike is an older Specialized Crossroads Sports with a branded stem that says "Ride Right Comfort System". The problem with this stem is that it uses an internal plastic/rubber bushing to hold the lean angle in place. Presumably this could have been some kind of shock absorbing system for the handlebars, but after many years the bushing dries out and the handlebars fall forward slightly when pressed. Since parts for the stem are no longer available, the only option is to replace the stem. Although this Sunlite stem looked a bit longer, once adjusted to the desired angle, the handlebar position was about the same. The nice feature here is that it "pops up" so you don't have to remove the grip, derailleur and brake lever to install it. The old rod didn't have this feature though - I used a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut through most of the bracket on the old rod and then pulled it out. (This is better than trying to remove one of the fixed rubber grips from the handlebar.) Once installed and tightened, the handlebar stays securely in place.
