Created my project Frankenstein stem

I am a recreational rider and loved my drop bar bike, but the low handlebar profile was causing lower back pain when riding. So. I created what could be the first cruise racer lol. When I want to ride, I hold onto the top of the handlebars, and when I want to dig in, I can grab the bottom of the handlebars and punch. EXACTLY what I needed. I love this stem and recommend it to anyone who needs to adjust handlebar height.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Minor issues

Very strong good extension if you don't like low handlebars.

I It seems that most bikes, even big box bikes, have old designs that were made for aerodynamics (road racing) or steep trails (BMX racing). If you don't ride old style single speed or three speed, there is no alternative. I started thinking about how I could raise the bars and move them back a bit to improve my posture and take the weight off my arms and prostate. It's made very strong, it fits perfectly where I took the other one out slightly. The upper joint is also fully adjustable.

10 speeds with Maes style drop bars connected to the spring extension. As I get older I find that bending over and stretching for long distances causes numbness in my arms and pain in my hip. Seat adjustment didn't help. I was thinking of replacing the stem with a shorter one and connecting it to a flat bar. This adjustable needle was able to pretty much reproduce what I was envisioning with the rods I have. I find that my long-distance driving has become more comfortable. This is an easyโ€ฆ

Love this stem: Stems

I love this stem. I was naturally looking for a way to adopt a more comfortable, upright riding position, and that helped. Firstly, there seems to be some confusion about the sizes, so let me get that straight. It replaces the stem in a 1" or 25.4mm fork. 180mm describes the length to the pivot point and 90mm describes the length of the turntable part, the part that clamps the handlebars. The 60 degrees they refer to are 2/3 the distance from perpendicular to the ground to full perpendicularโ€ฆ

Perfect fit for late 90's Trek 700

. Got a free Trek 700, I think it's 1997 or 1998. It fits like a glove. If you're worried it might be too high, just grab this one and lower it down if necessary and adjust the handles closer to you. You have a lot of customization options that you can do with it. I could even go higher if I wanted, but I would need longer brake cables. But I like it, huge improvement. The only downside is that with the stem raised you can't check the tightness of the main bolt that attaches to the fork. Iโ€ฆ

Good backup run.

I bought this stem to solve a problem. The bike is an older Specialized Crossroads Sports with a branded stem that says "Ride Right Comfort System". The problem with this stem is that it uses an internal plastic/rubber bushing to hold the lean angle in place. Presumably this could have been some kind of shock absorbing system for the handlebars, but after many years the bushing dries out and the handlebars fall forward slightly when pressed. Since parts for the stem are no longer available, the
