Review on YEBODA 12 oz Amber Glass Beer Bottles for Home Brewing: Flip Cap | 9-Pack by Chris Morgan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Continuous. No breakdowns along the way. I don't like the logo on the cap.

My first home brewing experience. I'm stuck and think I'll just buy bottles of Grolsch and "empty" them myself. Apparently Grolsch stopped selling their beer in swing top bottles and now sells 12-pack capped bottles. I found a few flip top singles but they are $4 each. It felt like I had to do the unthinkable and buy 9 EMPTY bottles for more than a full pack of 12! I read the reviews about the bottle capper. This seemed like a cheaper option and didn't require cleaning. but reviews said it was difficult without breaking a few bottles. The beer I made was about $40 a gallon. plus many hours of work so 2 lost bottles will be a big problem. I read the reviews and really wanted a different color bottle. I wanted blue and green. There were other brands that offered these options, but reviews indicated that there were a lot of breakages upon delivery. Although 12 bottles of these brands were actually cheaper than 9 bottles of Yeboda, I chose Yeboda because I needed to bottle as soon as possible. Unfortunately I ordered them on a Thursday evening which meant they would be delivered in 4-5 days even with Revain Prime. Arrived in 4 days and not a single bottle was broken. I didn't like that the Yeboda logo was printed on each cap. It wasn't shown and honestly I wouldn't have ordered if I had known. I deduct a star. The bottles close well. I have 2-3 weeks of conditioning in the bottle after the fizzy sugar step. I'm in week #2 but my house is colder due to cold spring temperatures so it may be another week or two before I can open it. They contain 9 extra seals so I assume they will wear out quickly. I'll probably try to use bottle caps on my next batch to compare and contrast. Washing it up seems like a chore, and if the seals fail, the beer is ruined. so when do you change the gaskets? In general it worked. The bottles are thick and feel strong. They look like typical beer bottles. I want color versions and no logos on the lid.
