great for my style of painting (loose painting, lots of grainy colors, mixing colors on paper)

I was pleasantly surprised by this watercolor magazine. I've kind of given up trying to find a quality watercolor magazine that won't break the bank. I looked at Moleskine, Handprint, Strathmore as well as a few no name brands to try and find a small portable magazine with a decent page count (18+) and quality paper. I use a lot of grainy watercolor and do a lot of work where I let the watercolor move and dictate its fate on the paper depending on the intensity, the way it's spread and the texture it creates, so I have a paper that works great With this technique, the material is key. This watercolor journal is GREAT for my way of working. It's thick, traditionally white (not that weird purple color that a lot of watercolor papers have been of late), and very textured. The texture is repeated and looks like a sieve. So if you don't like the look of a uniform texture when cold printing, keep that in mind. As for the paper itself, I would say that it granulates the colors well. conjured (a few soils tested by Daniel Smith and Primatex) and finely ground watercolors (Da Vinci) dried bright and clear. I was able to pick up the paper a bit and work with it - I don't usually do that much so unfortunately I don't scrub the paper very vigorously or anything, but I was able to take a damp stiff brush and lift the colors without paper pilling. I am very happy with this magazine. The paper is good, it seems to be of excellent quality for my watercolor style, everything dried clear and bright, the colors could granulate and mix on the surface, and there are many sheets in the magazine, that means I can paint freely, without thinking about what I've "ruined" the whole journal by creating an image I don't like, or worse, I'm too scared to even start because there are so few pages to start with that I can start with. magazines. I look forward to filling these out.
