Review on πŸ”§ MotorGuide Shock Absorbing Mounting Isolator Kit - Protect Electronics with Corrosion-Resistant Bolts - Set of 4 by Greg Mcnealey

Very good quick release fasteners, just note they have a limited lifespan. Order a second set of spare parts.

These are actually very nice and easy-to-use brackets. I highly recommend it, but anyone ordering should order a second set as a spare. The design of these won't last forever. In fact, my first kit just fell into the water. I'm glad I had a second set on the boat and a Phillips head screwdriver in the tool box on the boat. It took 15 minutes to swap out the new kit on the water. Now to the problem. The mounts are designed to isolate shock and torque from the mounting holes through the fiberglass boat deck. They really do their job. No deck cracks after three full years of fairly heavy use. However, this advantage comes at a price. The fasteners are made of rubber and will crack or loosen over time from the brass-threaded drawbar. When this happens, the bindings have no engagement and are pulled straight out. Luckily my MG Gator mount has 4 and the motor torque only broke through 2 isolators on one side of the mount. When I replaced I removed all four insulators. fail too. As the two backed away, the animal looked like it was about to fly off the boat, but the other two held it tight. Lesson learned. While you don't need below deck access to use these mounts, I WILL add a washer and nylon locknuts to ensure the mount doesn't try to pop off the next time they fail. Deck :) My heart can't take it anymore! Great mounts, came back here to order two more kits for parts!
