I'm someone who needs the room DARK to sleep, so getting the right blackout curtain was important to me! This one fits the bill so admirably I'm buying another for a different window. The curtain is a lighter gray on one side than the other, but aside from that, the two sides are exactly the same, so you can choose which color you would like to have facing in. The mechanism works as it should going up and down at least every day. Keep in mind that the mechanism requires a gentle hand - don't yank it down or force it up. Best of all, there is no cord to tempts my cats to try and destroy it!
