Review on πŸ§€ Efficient Pecorino Cheese Grating with GEFU Rotary Grater by Chris Drury

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Has serious design flaws

I really like this. The materials are excellent and feel durable. But there are some major issues that really bother me: 1.) The crank will snap if you turn it in the opposite direction. It's easy to disassemble, but in most cases it just falls apart. With cheese inside, it can get messy and you'll need three hands to put it back together. This leads to the following problem: 2.) The gap between the grating drum is too big, so the cheese gets stuck below a certain size. You have to take it apart to get the cheese out (simply turning the handle back won't work due to #1) 3. Both sides are open. If you're not careful, the cheese will fall out on the other side. This could easily be avoided if the crank part were covered, but this is not the case because of the elegant design. 4.) The idea with the cheese collection container is ingenious. It would be even better if there were more than one in the kit or the option to purchase more. Also, since it's plastic, I don't think it will last very long. 5.) It's big, and the hard edges make it difficult to grip securely. (Remember we're talking about grating hard cheese here.) 6.) All moving parts are plastic. There are no complaints about the quality of the plastic, it seems to be of good quality but it doesn't move smoothly. (I think that's why they left extra space between the rim of the drum and the box, which causes the cheese to snag. Hence my general recommendation: don't buy!
