I installed one of these on the wall to have power, TV and gigabit ethernet right in the bedroom. He is behind a large desk and the minimum distance is now the thickness of the thickest cable. Typically, a TV coaxial cable needs at least 2 or 3 inches because the plug sticks out too far, a power plug at least 1 inch (even a rectangular plug), and Ethernet at least 2.5 cm to prevent the thin cable from being pinched or pinched through severe 90 degree bend damaged. Now the dresser is pressed firmly against the wall as far as the baseboard will allow - maybe 1/2 inch. The thing works great. I installed it where there used to be a plain standard duplex outlet. It has diagonal screw holes. So you can attach it to a wall stud and other parts to slide the box forward until it's flush. The only thing I'd warn you about is that this thing is pretty damn deep. to set it, but I strongly recommend measuring the available depth before cutting. Otherwise, you may regret it very much. Especially since the cut-out required is much larger than with a standard double socket. that it allowed me to bring my small but powerful Milwaukee 2401-22 12v lithium-ion compact screwdriver to drill a pilot hole through the 2x4 and floorboard into the basement. Otherwise, I would have blindly drilled into my house with a 3/4 inch drill bit for routing wires. And I would be dead wrong. Ouch! Add two decorative accessories and you're done. I went with a 2-pin socket and a white 2-port Decora-Type keystone insert (but they are available on the ADCWP6W 6-port Keystone-style insert strap, white). I will be ordering 2 or maybe 3 more of these for the rest of the bedrooms and living room. Good product!
