Recently moved to a new apartment. And found that the latch was not enough. I went to the hardware store looking for something to pad the door. The reason I did this was you wanted to create a 90 degree angle if you are looking for strength and stability. I've also fitted an inexpensive door alarm at the base of the door which provides a secondary deterrent but also lets me know when the door has been forced open and when to grab Mr. 12 Gauge.
