Review on ๐Ÿฆ Opus Plus Oriole Feeder - Durable 32-ounce Plastic Feeder by Perky-Pet 449-2 by Allison Taylor

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Faulty design but overall good feeder

Very small bottle opening. It will be difficult to clean. I finally put it to use 9 months after purchasing it. I bought it as a backup for another one that was about to fail. Unfortunately it is too late for a return. The seal between the upper and lower molds was poor during manufacture and they leak or leak when screwed together. Most of the nectar is lost when hanging. Specifically, the top half screws onto the bottom half like a mayonnaise jar. Contact between them will fail if they are tightly screwed. UPDATE: Woman wanted to feed orioles again and accidentally discovered this on Revane. That's five years later. You still haven't dealt with the leak in this product. The connection between the top and bottom halves of the feeder will not fit together causing a leak. Fluid flows from the seam between them when assembled and ready for use. The suture is such that capillary action occurs and liquid or nectar becomes suspended in the suture. The bees are eating at this time and disturb the birds while they are eating. Even with tight screwing, leakage still occurs, resulting in nectar loss. When the orioles land on the perches, the feeder will sway and more nectar will flow towards the hem. I'm trying to fix this leak with a padding material. In the meantime I attached a 6 ounce fishing weight to the bottom of the feeder to stabilize the feeder as the birds land and take off. Slowing down what is often excessive rocking will prevent nectar from leaking from both the poorly designed joint and feeding holes. Bee repellent bullets are made. It's a good feeder, but more than five years later you'd think they'd provided an O-ring to solve this problem.
