Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Smith's Jiffy-Pro Handheld Sharpener 50185 in Vibrant Orange by Rick Alexander

Do not use on expensive knives!

Ideal for very dull knives. This gives them a fairly sharp edge, but if you look closely you can see that the blade is very rough and chipped. It cuts well but shortens blade life. It is ideal for pocket knives, hunting knives and cheap kitchen knives. I sharpen my good knives with a thinner whetstone that keeps the blade smooth. Update 11/06/17: I've added 2 photos showing what my edge looks like after using this sharpener (Rachel Ray Chef's Knife). Ceramic sharpeners (white) work well, but carbide blades (grey) are too hard and will remove too much metal and eventually damage the blade. I've found a better sharpener that sharpens my knives fairly well, the Lansky 4-Blade Knife Sharpener. ceramic rods one). It's fast, doesn't require much skill or concentration, and works well with moderately dull knives. Both types of wands are ceramic and as long as you keep them clean they will give you a sharp, smooth edge. Pull 5 times on each side for a sharp edge. A sharpening stone is always better, but it takes more time and a lot more skill. . This seems to work best for keeping your blade sharp without damaging it.
