We live in North Texas and we go cable-free to save $105 a month by not being tied to a TV. Purchased Yagi style RCA HD antennas installed in the attic and a splitter for two HDTVs in the study and living room. Pointed to the southwest hill of Dallas Tower, 55-60 miles from here. Happy with the 45+ channel setup, but at around 5-8 channels I would have a 3-4 second freeze frame. Two of them were movie channels that I watched a lot on cable and wanted to keep watching. But the still picture drove me crazy. I bought this amp because I had an outlet in the attic next to the stove to connect to 120V. Now a perfect free local HD TV with no frame freezing - much better than the above setup on an outside mast as I got signals but no power. The amplified signal was a trick!
