Review on πŸ”§ Gates TCKWP307 Engine Timing Belt Kit incl. Water Pump by Robert Mulrooney

Works perfectly! on Belts

Fits my Subaru Legacy 2003 2.5l. Suggest to also replace front oil seal and thermostat at the same time. The thermostat is actually mounted on the water pump on this car, so you should be able to access it whether you change it or not! And the front seal is easily accessible when the toothed belt is removed. For the timing belt, be sure to fit the mainshaft pulley and the two valve pulleys before removing the old belt. After rotating them into position (while still having the old belt in place) I also marked the pulleys and the wall behind them. Note that the valve discs can (probably will) move when the belt is removed. It is very important to place them correctly. There are videos on YouTube showing how to install them. Nice to see beforehand. Here's a trick to removing the bolt from the main crankshaft. First I have to state the obvious, because some people in our society like to complain - do it at your own risk. I take no responsibility if anyone attempts this trick and sustains any damage or injury. Use common sense and be safe. Alright, here's the trick. This machine uses a 22mm head for this screw. Place the socket wrench on the screw. Now insert a strong metal rod under the A/C bracket, crossed towards the front of the car (don't put it on top of the radiator or you might dent it - use a block of wood or something to keep it off the radiator). . ). Make sure it is securely fastened. Hold the socket wrench handle on this bar. (Note that the crankshaft rotates clockwise when looking at the front of the engine.) For safety reasons, do not keep anyone away from the key. Now turn the ignition key so that the engine hums but does not start. This should be enough to break the screw. Now you can unscrew it completely.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • There are some nuances
