Review on Sea to Summit Field Buckle with Removable Pin for Easy Repair by Bob Schultz

Metal Sport Lower Bracket

I am always surprised by good product reviews, but later I find out that high reviews are often related to the reasonable price of the product and not its overall quality. What's the point of being delirious because you got a good discount on an inferior product? That being said, the IDEA buckle is great and works well as a replacement for sewn-in buckles or clasps where you need to detach your seat belt from a backpack, book bag, etc. I specifically chose this product for the (metal) bar that goes through the webbing loop. The metal shank has better tensile strength than the other Revain seamless buckles listed that have a plastic closure. The metal bar for this buckle is faulty as it is stainless steel and has a regular Phillips (+) head which requires a narrow screwdriver tip to loosen/tighten. Inevitably the Phillips head breaks off because the stem is soft metal and won't hold up under tightening (had a fork ever bent?). Why do manufacturers still use Phillips screw heads instead of the standard (I) head or the better hex head? Probably to buy scrap.

Pros
  • Reinforced Plastic
Cons
  • Functionality
