Black Resin - High detail but price

All printed on AnyCubic Photon S with a layer height of 0.05 (9s/layer) or 0.03 (8s/layer). This black resin captures the highest detail of any resin I've tried to date, but it comes at the cost of being one of the most brittle I've tried. I can print my 1" square diamond plates in perfect detail and print the leather case on a sea elf's whip handle so I know the level of detail is phenomenal, but as I sell miniatures I can't stand them breaking so easily . With these miniatures, a simple fall from the height of the table resulted in broken parts, which for me is no exception. My remedy for this is to mix up a flexible resin that will give these miniatures (orcs) much needed strength. When I added flexible resin it made the models translucent and created a smoky black look which is pretty cool. Another positive side effect of these mixtures is that almost all details have been preserved. When I mix flexible resin with other brands I usually lose a bit more detail than I would like, but this black resin really helped get the high detail I wanted to see. Many people are concerned about the smell. , and this one isn't the worst of us, but it's not the best either. I have ventilation in my printer so I don't smell any lingering odors anyway. If you don't care about fragility and ultra-detailed prints, then this is the way to go. If you're not afraid to mix flexible resins, then this is your way, too.

Pros
  • Stiffness and strength
