Review on Grunwerg Commercial Grade Potato Ricer Jumbo Potato Press: Efficient Cast Iron Chrome Kitchen Tool by Faith Miller

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best quality I think you will find in a consumer rice cooker, but that's not saying much.

I have searched extensively for a racer that could be considered industrial and am disappointed that I cannot find one. However, this one stood out as the strongest/hardest I could tell from the reviews I've read. I've had my ass bitten by inferior drivers and it looks like there were several. I first used this on Thanksgiving when I roasted potatoes for 18 and it worked great. I like the ease with which the rice machine works compared to other mashing methods. I've used it a few times since then and while it works great my feeling is that it won't be a long lasting product and I'll probably be replacing it every 18 months or so. For this reason I deducted a star. Looking ahead, my mother-in-law has a riser, probably from the 50's (and probably lead), but it's a quality product that will probably never break. Hopefully not anytime soon, but I look forward to inheriting at some point to break this vicious cycle. A kind tip the cook encouraged me recently when I was taking lessons from her is that you should wash this thing immediately after you're done painting. This takes a few minutes but is immediately worth it because it's sooooo easy to clean up before the starch sets. For the same reason, you should wash all your kitchen utensils and dishes as soon as possible. Hope that helps.
