I've just received two of these slide viewers and I'm thrilled. It can be used on a table, leaving your hands free, or it can be held in your hands. It's just the right size. It works a bit differently than the smaller manual ones, which has its advantages. Usually, you hold the slide with your finger to preview it. This will turn on the light and you can view the image. This viewer has a button to turn on the light and the slide is placed in the viewer slot. This relieves your hands and also makes it easier for several people to use the viewer at the same time. When you're done viewing, another button ejects the slide into the tray below. Very smart and practical. It uses 4 A cell batteries which are included and a cleaning cloth. I just thought it was very cute. My husband was an artist and in his 60 years of work he has taken thousands of photos of his work. Hundreds of these images are presented in slide format. He recently passed away and I plan to celebrate his work by sorting through this stack of slides. I was thinking of a carousel with slides showing work all the time, but 1) I couldn't get the carousel to work and 2) the light had to be turned off in that room, making it impossible to do anything else in that room . so i went for manual. I bought two more manual viewers and when I realized I needed more I bought two of them. This product, although slightly different in nature, is of slightly better quality. I am very happy that I bought them.
