First of all, yes, installation is a pain. They don't just "snatch". You'll see that on top of the lanterns is this little piece. If you are looking for your grill, there is a small recess for it. What I did was do that first and then the bottom part with the clip. If you only enter the grate with a clamp, then yes, it's free. You'll have to use some force, but you'll be much stronger than just using this clamp. I also tried to attach some photos. No issues with the backup as some have said. I turn them on with my headlights, but I turn the fog lights on all the time, so they're on too. I don't know how durable it is, but it survived the car wash 3 times and was on the freeway at 75-80 mph.
