Review on πŸ”« Galco Black Ambidextrous Cop Ankle Safe - Enhanced SEO by Ashton Dahmer

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Lifespan for everyday use is a godsend; 1st Gen vs 2nd Gen

this is my second purchase; a backup of my first ankle safe that I used as an EDC for a flashlight (4"L x 2"D; 1 AA battery) and a pair of medical gloves that I keep in a zippered pocket. 1-2 times a week when I need to use the Galco Ankle Glove on the other leg (like with business attire), I carry the gloves in my suit pocket and use the Ankle Safe as a double-stack spare magazine. In my experience, carrying gloves and a magazine in the same pocket of the ankle safe during normal walking will cause them to slip and fall out. It holds up well but has a life expectancy of around 3 years with daily use. Neoprene on the seams created stress points; it starts to stretch the holes in those places and gets bigger over time. I have already made my own stitches and overlapped these areas to extend the life of the item, but now the holes around the new stitches have made their own holes that are getting larger. I plan to continue using the original article until waived. I use my newly purchased ankle safe for formal occasions (like a black tie) and have to buy a third if the original safe fails. Update (about 3 months after the original review above): Shortly after I wrote the review above, my original product finally broke. This "new generation" ankle safe (I say that because the Galco logo is sewn in a different place than the original) is not made from the same high quality materials as the previous ones. Only after 3 months. With the same use, the neoprene started tearing at the seams. Downgraded from 4 to 2 stars as this new generation can't keep up.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • something different
