I'm using 2 FX AUDIO Home Audio GE5654 tube preamps on a commercial CLOUD COVER SOUND system in a bar. I was looking for that old TUBE AMP JUKEBOX SOUND sound. I first ordered a preamp to test the processing and sound quality. I chose this slightly more expensive model due to the high rating of the GE5654 bulbs. I installed the first unit between an Emotiva TA-100 stereo preamp/DAC/tuner with built in amplifier and a Crown XLS 2502 amplifier with 8 PVX 12 2 ohm in wall speakers. It took a little while to get the first note right, but the sound was great. After being totally impressed with the first device, I ordered a second one as a replacement. I thought about trying 2 in tandem and when the 2nd one arrived I gave it a try. Adding a second was magic, adding extra warmth and more importantly, SLAM. Separation of parts and tools. I wanted to show off the lamps, but I also needed to protect them, so I placed them side by side in an overdriven vintage General Electric Model L660 radio on top of the bar. It will be difficult for you to find a better value for your sound system.
