Two questions, one. The closer to your ceiling, the fewer snowflakes you will see on the ceiling. The taller the trees, the less aesthetic they have on the ceiling. It's still great, just wish the surface was wider. You can achieve this with a shorter tree. I'm 7-7ft 5" tall and the top fits perfectly without hitting anything but it pushes closer to the ceiling. So if your tree is already very close to the ceiling I don't think these will work for you I was tempted to buy another one just to hide behind a tree and set it lower to have more snowflakes around lol Secondly it's a bit noisy Not bad to the point where it is is annoying but as I sat in the living room reading in silence I kept thinking what that noise was...then I realized.lol You don't really notice it until the room is quiet.Not a disturbing noise, but I assume this is normal with the snowflakes moving across the ceiling for effects but just so you know you will hear it if you are sitting in a quiet room.Other than that I love it!In the first one year I change the color theme and the topper and it's great!
