My 2 year old wanted to 'cut' himself every time we cooked food. We hold our knives up and away from him. But making something in the kitchen became more and more difficult because he also wanted a knife! He loves his knife! So far only the smallest one has been given to him. That's a good size for him. At first he wasn't strong enough to harm him. After a week of dedicated work with a knife, he mastered the skills of working with a knife. Pickles, apples, bread, tortillas, cheese, look, there comes a little boy with a knife! We keep this knife on the counter where he can easily get it himself. He knows it's his and when he wants to "slice" he goes to it and takes a cutting board and an apple and starts slicing and dicing and eating the apple. He loves doing it himself. I'm very happy that I found this knife and it's a really safe knife. Slices fruits and vegetables, pancakes, french toast and flatbreads, but not meat. I tried sawing back and forth with the back of my hand but it didn't cut anything. If you have a nimble kid who needs a knife and scissors, this plastic knife is a great alternative for little hands!
