I bought this pattern set because I wanted to try a few different types of knitting needles before buying the whole set. TL;DR I'm glad I tested these needles because I didn't like them a metal pair and a square wood pair. I generally like the round tree. So here is my review of this set. I used to have a Knitter's Pride acrylic replacement kit that was good enough, but the plastic was too grippy and my stitches didn't slide well. I then tried the more expensive Knitter's Pride replaceable wooden tips and really liked them, but they don't come in a set and don't have many sizes available. I was thinking about just buying the Symfonie Dreamz set, but I saw this set of samplers that contained a couple of these and two more. I was curious about the metal plated pins as well as the square style. Also, at the same time that I ordered this sampler set, I ordered a second sampler set from Knitter's Pride, which has several other lace styles, as well as a Knit Picks Try It sampler set. I will write separate reviews for these items, but I will compare these spokes to these. This Knitter's Pride Comby Set 1 contains size 6 (4mm) Symfonie Dreamz (wood), size 7 (4.5mm) Cubics Rose (wood). and size 8 (5mm) Nova Platina (metal plated). I immediately tried Nova Platina because I had a project with Knitter's Pride acrylic needles in size 8, so I just switched tips. Immediately I found that I do NOT like Nova Platina tips. First, they felt so light, like they were made of plastic with a thin "metal" coating. The taper at the end of the tip was too long for my liking, making it uncomfortable to fully complete the stitch. But what I didn't like the most was the strange sound/feeling when the needles rub against each other in the middle of the stitch. It was very annoying, like nails on a board, so those pins were definitely not in use. (Note the nickel plated Knit Picks needles as I had them at the same time. I'll write a separate review on that but just mentioning that the Nova Platina Knit Picks needles were amazing compared to the Nova Platina. Weight for them, better processing somehow, so the taper is perfect and they DO NOT do that weird scratching that annoys me so much if you think If you like the Nova Platina, maybe try the nickel-plated Knit Picks first before you buy them.) The next pair, for The one I chose was the Cubics Rose. I used the same project for testing purposes as the size didn't differ too much and then tried a new cast. I was curious about the square shape because some of the reviews I heard/read said that this shape can help with tight stitches and I have a problem with that, especially with row stitches. And some people also say that the shape may seem more ergonomic to some people. None of these things seemed true to me during my testing. The shape just felt awkward to me, and the taper on these needles was actually too short for me. Because of the shape, I had to move the stitch all the way to the top to even get in, but because of the short taper, the stitches just wanted to slip off all the time. It was worse trying on a new cast. Not sure if it gets better with practice, but overall it was too awkward and I didn't want to get used to it. So the needles are gone. Eventually I switched to Symfonie Dreamz for testing and just started with the new cast in the series. They were fine, almost the same as the acrylic needles I used. I compared wood to acrylic in the same tip sizes and got almost the same results. The wood was a little smoother, but to be honest there wasn't much of a difference. Also, the tip was a bit blunter on the wood than on the acrylic. In general everything was fine, I'm not particularly impressed. However, since I also had a pair of matching sized Knit Picks Majestic needles from the Try It Set, I compared the Symfonie Dreamz to them. The Majestic tips were slightly longer (overall length) and the taper was slightly different. I think it was a very slightly longer cone. Also the tip of the Majestic needles was a bit sharper but still nice. So I decided that out of the two I like the Majestic needles better than the Symfonie Dreamz. Overall I hated the Nova Platina and Cubics Rose picks and just generally loved the Symfonie Dreamz. If only I could choose between these three I would take Symfonie Dreamz. But since I also tested other kits, I decided not to use any of them. I would go with Symfonie Dreamz. But since I also tested other kits, I decided not to use any of them. I would go with Symfonie Dreamz. However,
