Used the 2.5" bit to drill 3 holes through a 24" thick fieldstone foundation. Pilot was too long, so it would flex when attempting to start the diamond bit. So I started a hole with just the pilot on hammer, then added the core bit and a homemade centering spacer that kept everything lined up, and got it started. Removed the pilot, and let it do the work with some water. It was a long process with my SDS, but no longer than a dedicated core borer setup honestly. Much cheaper than renting a tool, easier to handle, and still has life if I ever need it in the future.I don't normally bother to write reviews. It does have a flaw with the length of the pilot bit, but for the price, and what you're getting it's well worth it. My application is far more difficult than that of the intended consumer with concrete or something much softer than fieldstone, so props to the manufacturer, it did exactly what it said it would do
