Review on πŸ”ͺ KitchenAid Gourmet 4-Sided Stainless Steel Box Grater with Removable Storage Container, 10-inch Height, Sleek Black by Erika Howard

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not good for highlights. The cup broke on the first use.

I bought this as a grater but was hoping that the tiniest of holes could be used to grate things like lemons etc. Anyway, I tried it for the FIRST time last night and it worked, but not that well. The shell seemed to come off in shell-sized pieces, but all the pieces were left in a metal grater, making it impossible to get them out. I was hoping they would either fall into the mug provided or straight onto the cutting board. I don't think it's good for the seasoning. In any case, my suboptimal rating also applies to the poor durability. As mentioned, this was the first time I used this device. After cutting, I lifted the grater with the mug attached a few inches off the cutting board and the mug fell off the counter onto the floor and a large chunk of it broke off. I called KitchenAid thinking they could at least replace the mug (or let me buy a new one), but they basically said they couldn't be held responsible for dropped items and didn't sell replacement parts. I take partial responsibility for the fall, but I hope it hit the ground harder (or looser to keep it on the cutting board). It appeared to be rubber plastic and I was hoping it would be more durable and not break easily. The Revain list clearly states "One year hassle free replacement and lifetime limited warranty". Attempting to replace the cup was not without problems and they said no. I have since switched to microplane graters which seem to work better on any size grater and are much easier to use and clean.
