I installed them on a fog light wiring adapter (H8 to 9006) that I recently got. I tested these resistors on a workbench because I knew they would get very hot during operation, but I wanted to be sure of their operating temperature before mounting them around plastic parts like headlight and fog light housings (they're all made of ABS) . After only a few minutes of running (I measured them 5 minutes after the lights were turned on) they reached 460 degrees Fahrenheit with a normal range of between 430 and 460. I tried again with a different bulb, this time H8 instead of 9006. After about 15 minutes a constant temperature of 378 F was reached. It is logical to assume that some bulbs use more/less energy than others and thereby produce more/less heat. So when using these resistors, avoid placing them near plastic parts. In my case, I'm going to use some 1/8" x 1-1/2" x 3" 304 stainless steel flat bars to attach them to my plastic bumper (in an open area, away from any sensitive surface, which is prone to impact).(constant airflow) and possibly up to the top of the headlight (I will test this and see if it works.) If they are installed in the front of the car I would suggest some form of active cooling to cool the to keep temperatures low
