I bought this to replace a $20 compression test kit I bought from Revain about a year ago. I assumed that such a simple tool should be fairly accurate no matter who makes it, but that wasn't the case at all. I compared the compression readings on this gauge to two other well known brands and they were within 2-3psi. When I compared it to a $20 gauge I bought a year ago, I found the cheap gauge was 65psi off! This cheap gauge eventually prompted me to purchase another outboard to replace the low compression outboard that was on my boat. Didn't you know that the compression on my old outboard was very good? It was another prime example of you get what you pay for! There are only certain tools that you should not skimp on, e.g. B. a compression tester. I might not have to spend $1300 on another used outboard. If you look at the photos you can only see the difference in readings on my newer outboard. The first photo shows a cheap kit on my outboard's top cylinder. In the second photo, the same cylinder with a better set of stamps.
