This is really subjective as half the reviews say they are very tight and half say they are too loose. I have a gluten and dairy intolerance that is causing my whole body to swell by about 15 pounds. My legs turned into great blocks of cinders; with an increase of almost 50%. I tried on these socks WHILE I was swollen. I am a woman who wears size 7 shoes. I have skinny feet and lower legs (unless they are swollen); 5'3", 155 lbs. According to the sizing chart, I should have bought the medium one. Thank god I didn't. were LARGER in the foot and leg than my typical stockings. I grabbed the top cuff and just pulled them all the way up, light as a cake.I'm a nurse and compression stockings need some force majeure to put them on or they don't fit snug enough. The packaging says expect them to shrink a bit.I don't know if I can trust shrinkage will suffice or I should return them. I've read tons of reviews but nobody really bothers to give measurements for other people to judge. Here are my SEEN measurements so you can compare to yourself: Widest Calf: 12.5" metatarsal (arch; swollen) 9 1/8" socks reached mid-knee at my 5'3" height. Again, I wear shoes a size 7 in length, but shoes in size sma ll for 3-6 were too big and pretty easy to slip on.
