Review on ๐ŸŒŠ Rule 35A Rule-A-Matic Mercury-Free Bilge Pump Float Switch - White: Product Review & Buying Guide by Luis Green

Easy to connect and install, a game changer

My 1998 16" Lund is a true market leader. After about 4 hours the water started to rise to the bottom. This made me think about, from time to time, the turn the bilge pump on. Sometimes when I was busy doing something I forgot to create extra weight in the boat. I was usually reminded when the bow trolling motor came to the surface and was making a lot of noise. Setting this switch got rid of that taken from the equation. Now it turns on every half hour or so. I bypassed the switch it was plugged into and connected it via a fused line to a power source that went straight to my battery. I know my Lund has a double casing but I really didn't want to drill it in. I had a 1" piece of HDPE that I cut a block out of and screwed to it and screwed it on d then glued to the floor. Gorilla glue or construction glue will work, I used silicone based glue that I had on hand. It also raised it slightly higher than the pump so it shuts off safely. If the float cannot sink deep enough, it will not shut off. This can happen when the float is at the same height as the highest suction lift on your pump. Now I don't leave a trail of water to my house when I ride my boat home from the river. The big advantage is that I can leave it at the resort pier or in the cabin for the night or longer without worrying about finding it downstairs in the morning. If necessary, rainwater is also disposed of.
