Review on LG 49WL95C-W 49-Inch Curved Ultrawide 5120x1440p Monitor with Tilt and Height Adjustment by Kevin Russell

Great widescreen monitor

I've been using this monitor with my MacBook Pro for 2 years. It was expensive, but it's an amazing and versatile monitor. I have a few complaints - like the lack of software controls for brightness or volume. Sometimes it can be a little tiring to have to turn your head from side to side to see the entire screen of information. In online meetings, I have to be careful not to broadcast a screen that is too big/long/tall for the viewers. But these are trifles - a great monitor. I've never used it for gaming, so I can't comment on that. A previous review said that the MacBook Pro display turns off and on randomly. I've never had this and have been using it for almost 2 years with 3 different MBPs. When I use this as an extended desktop (which I usually do) it uses a low resolution in the "Display Standard" settings which is very legible but doesn't take full advantage of the display. . If you set it to Scaled, you can choose a native resolution of 5120 x 1440. It's getting too hard for me to read, so I set it to 3840 x 1080 and it's almost correct. I love that the USB-C output has enough power to power and charge my MBP - I don't need a charger. I often use it as my main display with the MBP closed, with a wireless keyboard and trackpad. Very versatile and high quality.
