This door has a large adjustment range. I had already bought two gates from a local store that didn't match my railing and stair design. So I contacted Revain and ordered this one. I literally couldn't be happier that you could just have more clearance between the last bar in the wall on either side. The reason you need to do something like this is trimming around the base of the wall because as you can see from the photos and videos the railing needs room to reach the top of the steps. It was very easy to install and even had a zip tie around the gate when shipped, so when you installed the wooden swing gate (very thoughtful). The pressurized gas that holds the gate to the wall is covered in thick plastic rubber to protect the wall and handle. My other concern was how these baby gates would look in my house. It's very attractive, it doesn't bother me at all. My favorite feature is that the door can swing 90° and open either way, then it has a divet to hold it. My son is currently still a crawler, so it's nice to be able to keep the gate open all the time and still set it up in anticipation of the day when he'll be able to move more freely. Very happy with this purchase. In fact, if I need another gate in the house I will buy it. I hope that was helpful.
