The low price was the main advantage of this can holder. It has a few thin plastic straps at some points of contact with the glass, but not the thicker plastic or rubber pads that many similar but more expensive mounts have. There is a regular plate welded to the retaining metal band that goes across the top of the tank to prevent people from opening the lid and venting the gas, but the placement of the plate on this model was for my official NATO Wavian 5 -Gallon style wrong . . canister, and I had to bend it to fit over the opening of this jar. I think it rattles a bit with a metal can, but it could be better with a plastic can. Not sure if the welds are strong enough for side mounting without off-road support, maybe better for the inside of a truck body or laying on the fender of an RV for ground support. Since I changed it I probably won't be able to return it, but will most likely get a different mount.
