I used LED string lights to light up a gate in a rural area that didn't have streetlights, but the stress of the elements' electrical wiring meant they needed a year. I decided to replace them with LED string lights as the same strings are in a transparent tube that protects them from the environment. They worked perfectly right out of the box, already charged so pre-install testing (by holding a hand over the solar panel to simulate nighttime) was a success. I installed them on my gate at 2pm (there isn't much time for the sun to fully charge them if they weren't already charged) and they appeared at dusk. And remained motionless as I walked out the next morning at dawn, before it was light. Still bright and easy to see from my house (which is half a mile from the lighted gate). A remote control isn't included (and the product description confirms this), but Revain is oddly asking buyers to rate the remote. You don't need a remote anyway. All lighting controls are easily accessible on the back of the solar panel with just two buttons. One button is used to turn it on and off (and remember, they only glow in the dark). Another button is the mode control (there are about 8 light settings: different types of flashing, racing light and steady light).
