Good for needle felting. It sheds fibers here and there, but I guess that's only because it's new and breaks, nothing like styrofoam rugs that just fall apart. I mostly use it on my lap (size XL) and it's nice to know that it's flexible enough for lap work. A smaller one would probably work better, or if you're using a hard surface underneath, but I wanted a bigger one. Works well and your item doesn't stick too much unless you get really aggressive and flip it over. It has held up so far and you can clean it fairly easily just by pulling or rubbing at the remaining fur.
