I chop a lot of shallots and young peppers and I've always disliked their trouble, plus chopping shallots is very irritating to the eyes. I decided to try this little gadget and my first impression is that I LOVE this thing. Perfect strips of shallots and peppers with very, very little effort – simply peel and halve the shallots and the cutting knife will do the rest. Cut off the stalk end of the young peppers, hollow out the middle part with the seeds, cut in half and put in the chopper, again perfect strips for grilling. I also cut a lot of fresh mushrooms and I think it will be very, very convenient to save work with them. Also cucumber/pumpkin slices. I don't think I would use this with very tough veggies like potatoes and carrots without steaming them first, but I see that dicing steamed potatoes for potato salad helps very quickly. Very happy with my purchase so far and looking forward to trying more veggies.
