When I received the valves and tested them before use, I found metal shavings from the hex connector used to assemble the seal which is built into the surface of the teflon seal (see the screwdriver used). To screw the plug into the seal, pull out the hex, which will allow metal shavings to get into the ball/seal area of the valves. If you use these valves check them before use and don't use them for anything essential like a process check valve as they will eventually leak.
