Let's start with the good: it's a pretty awesome little scanner hardware wise. It scans quickly, feeds securely and folds into a very light, compact body for easy storage and portability. Now for the bad: First, a micro USB 3.0 cable needs to be installed (even for wireless use, as far as I can tell). That's all well and good, except that the Micro-USB 3.0 is a very unusual cable that many probably won't have; It's not a Micro USB 2.0 cable that you probably have a drawer full of. To make matters worse, the scanner is delivered without a cable. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That $200+ worth of hardware doesn't come with the cheap-yet-snazzy cable it demands is beyond mean and says a lot about the company. Next software. The Brother iPrint & Scan software actually works quite well, but it leaves a process in your memory that is always running, initiating, and running and CANNOT BE TERMINATED EVEN BY THE TASK MANAGER. That's right, once you install their software for even a single scan, there is a process running on your computer the entire time until you uninstall the software, which I did immediately. I ended up with a micro USB 3.0 cable (from the external hard drive that came with the cable because it wasn't made by the cheapest company in the world) and I can scan using the Windows Store Scan app. For these reasons, plus the fact that the hardware is good, I will be leaving this product. On the other hand, I will never recommend or buy any other Brother product. TO EDIT. Now the scanner doesn't work anymore. Any attempt to use it with any application launches the document and appears to work properly, but the process never completes, requiring the scanner and computer to be restarted. It might work with the Brother app which needs to load on startup and run constantly on the computer, but definitely not spyware, but I won't be using it. That. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
