Disappointed, but works with some difficulty

I have never been so disappointed in a tool that I was able to write a critical review. I have a lot of experience with tenoners, but this is my first experience with a lumberjack. Brand. I might have been unlucky and got a bad one, but I was disappointed with the effort it took to even get a decent spike. First, the pitch control is poorly designed. It can be difficult to get the blades right so you end up with the right size mandrel instead of just ripping the wood. sharpened to give a tip that is even remotely smooth. The spikes I received with the blades were so torn I almost sent them back. After they cooled down (I was a bit excited) I took the blades to Tormek and got a new edge - that was a big improvement. Now the spikes can be used, but still not the clean, smooth spikes I get with my other cutter (Bosworth/Barker). tip length. The fact that there is no tenon length adjustment other than inserting the bolt into a slot or looking through the slots is poor design, inconsistent, or not feasible for high performance. General design. I feel like it's just a cheaply made instrument overall. The aluminum is thinner, the mandrel/shank is light and the problem I see is that it needs to be replaced much sooner than other cutters. I hate to be so outspoken, but I'll look at it from the perspective of someone using a spike. Editors go about their business regularly and I have to call it what I see it. Unless I have a bad example (but major design flaws remain), I really don't see how anyone who's ever used a tenon cutter with a different design could be happy with the results a lumberjack got, especially right after that Unpacking. .If you've never used a decent tenoner you'll probably be happy with this, but if you have something comparable you'll probably be disappointed. I cannot recommend this tool as it is. The 3 tips on the left side of the picture show the cutter before sharpening the blades, the long one shows the result after sharpening and the right tip shows the tip made by my 2" Bosworth Tenoner
