Review on Continental Conti4x4Contact 265/60 R18 110H summer by Micha Bukowski (Pax) ᠌

Not everything is so bad, the average purchase in quality.

Regular 235/55/17 on XC70, mileage 10-15 per year, operated from 2022 from April to November. Every weekend departure for moderate off-road: a primer, muddy in spring, autumn, after rains, a clay country road. Off-road, it usually behaves like any “summer” all-season on AWD - once you get into a rut, you will row until you sit on your belly. I did not dare to climb into the marshy ground. There were no adventures for the first couple of seasons, then I lost 3 (!) Wheels, the last one in 2022. 1 - side cut from the inside (pothole), welded, lasted a year; 2 - an unsuccessful large diameter puncture on the edge (bend) of the tire: the patch and the harnesses were not held (an artifact on the primer); 3 - side cut outside (border). I had to periodically buy a used one, so I drove it for 7 years, rearranging it back and forth. By the end of the 2022 season absolutely bald tires, went to the trash. It has long been noticed - regular "slippers" from the cabin - always an economical compromise not in favor of consumer properties. Depreciation by the end of season 3 is significant - 80%. On the track, the tires are on fire, I drive fast. It seemed that the maximum safe mileage on it is 40 thousand - no more, although of course a lot depends on the driving style and mode of operation, and the size is important. It can be said that I was not lucky with cuts - punctures, but nothing like this happened to me on the products of other brands that I dealt with - Yokogama, GoodYear, Bridgestone. Lousy Pirelli Scorpion STR and he only caught self-tapping screws, but so that the sidewalls . The less than ideal Hankook DynaPro HP on my other car went bald on the same route, but remained intact. Conclusion: for this money there are more reliable options or at least not worse;)

Pros
  • Average in almost all respects: noise, brakes, aquaplaning, handling, smoothness, sensitivity to rutting. In a word: normal city, highway tires for a "pensioner" driving style.
Cons
  • Wear resistance, price-quality ratio
