This product is designed as a back protection. We are teaching my 4 year old to cycle without using training wheels and my back is KILLING after helping him for 10 minutes. Using them has changed the rules of the game. She feels the need to balance more since we don't have a firm grip on the steering wheel or move her away so she learns faster. She complains of rubbing under the armpits. I've used the pads that come on car seat belts to add some padding (the Dione brand works well) and she said it was so much better.
