extended length) 131" wheelbase is a small part of Expedition SUVs on the road (most are 119" wheelbase) and due the fixed "crossbar" bracket on the EL between the two brackets, this bracket/motor part is not an exact part of the EL bracket, but it works with an extra step Note: Do not buy a motor and try to build it yourself Need special tools to replace and it's almost impossible.I broke the bracket on the first try, just replaced the motor which turned out to be a godsend as it's much easier to replace the whole bracket with the motor pre-assembled.As shown in pictures , here are the steps: 1) Go to the footboard settings and click the "Settings" button to go to the "Footboard " options. Use the "Reset" button to select the "Exit" option, which extends the footrests regardless of whether the door is open or not. This is important as you cannot access the screws on the brackets to remove the footpeg from the frame without unfolding the footpegs. 2) Remove the 4 screws that secure each footpeg bracket (8 screws total) to the frame. Two are clearly visible and two are on the inside at the top of the bracket that attaches to the frame. You have to go under the car to see them to remove them. If you cannot accommodate with the footpegs deployed, you may need to use vehicle ramps to raise the vehicle. You will also need to unplug the power/comms connector from the old motor. These steps will completely disengage the footpeg assembly from the frame. 3) Once the system is removed you can easily remove the old bracket with the motor attached by loosening the two hex head screws that attach the bracket to the actual footplate. Then take the new motor mount/part and screw it back to the footboard. 4) Take a hacksaw and cut the cross member still attached to the rear bracket about 4 inches from the attachment point. We know exactly what the crossbar is used for, except maybe to stabilize the system, but we've used the car for a month after this repair with no problems and everything works perfectly. 5) Reinstall the forward controls to the frame (two 8-bolt brackets) and attach the new motor connector to the new motor. Underneath the car there is a fixed holder for the connector (when you remove it, pull it out first) and then when you install the new motor you can reattach the connector in two holes.
