I was hesitant to buy this for cutting aluminum battens (Schlueter profile). If I used the bran saw I figured it would bounce instantly and give me a heart attack. My first attempt really failed, but due to a rookie mistake. I was trying to cut a small section from an 8 foot piece of aluminum at a 45 degree angle. If you have any type of aluminum kink or warp, you can experience the same thing, so make sure you precut (with a few extra inches) at a 0 degree angle. You can then trim your 45s, but make sure you cut slowly and evenly. You'll also encounter plenty of metal splinters in your face and eyes, so as with everything else, wear safety goggles.
