Review on Knitters Pride Dreamz Single Crochet by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I really wanted to love it but so far so-so.

(K/6.5mm size) Pros: - Lightweight - Warmer - Feels like metal or plastic - Nice look - Generally comfortable to hold, albeit not "ergonomic" (but there is an emphasis on thumb) - good length - good point - not too blunt and not too blunt - glides on smoothly Cons: - sponge is sharp and wants to be hooked A LOT - splits more than other hooks - relatively shallow groove - doesn't catch yarn like some other hooks - doesn't really work with fluffier threads yet because the hook-in-line style is more of a minus than a plus for me, but I use in-line hooks for certain things and I knew it was an in-line hook is. I don't know, I think this hook is half awesome, half awful. I can't point my finger at it yet. Maybe I just need time to get used to it. However, I compare almost all of the hooks to Clover Amours as my personal gold standard. Hooking this hook compared to the K size Cupid is totally unacceptable to me, although I understand that this may be "my problem". I really like how the needle feels in my hand and I've had several good crochet cuts. Then it gets stuck and I get annoyed. I'll update this review if my impressions change drastically, but I've compared it to the tests I always do to get a feel for a new hook and I doubt they'll change much. Fanatics with a built in hook, this is POSSIBLY an improvement over Susan Bates' all aluminum hook. Is definitely more comfortable in the hand. Comparing Susan Bates with ergonomic soft or wooden grips is a bit difficult, especially since Bates are much cheaper.
