Great value for ANT+ with GPS

I have an iGS520 with speed, cadence and heart rate sensors (chest mount). The speed and cadence sensors have always worked very well. The heart rate sensor sometimes fails at the start of a ride - I think it's the sensor trying to detect my pulse before I really sweat - the saline spray when I put it on seems to help. I don't have a power meter, but heart rate is a good indicator of one and a lot more useful than I thought. ?) tends to smooth out shorter ups and downs. Mostly new, but I like it. Another less useful addition is the temperature sensor, which is always about 10F higher and has a very long time constant. He's probably measuring the internal temperature of his device. I upload my rides to the iGPSport website where I can see the route and graphs of the sensor output. Even though I've set the units for my tires to 700x25, the distance measured by the speed sensor is always slightly greater than the GPS distance for the route shown in my route stats on the webpage. There might be a way to resize the wheel a bit, but I haven't gone back to check yet. Which brings me to two current shortcomings: 1) There is no English manual yet. It comes with paper, a one-page quick start guide, and that's all that's available on the site. I emailed the company but never received a reply. I had to figure out the menu customization through trial and error, which wasn't too difficult, but I'm wondering if there are any useful features I'm missing. I looked at the manual for 620 but 520 behaves differently. 2) The application in the phone is very intrusive. It requires too many permissions for me to feel comfortable installing. It may require an app for turn-by-turn waypoint navigation, but I don't know due to issue #1. :(Overall it has worked well for the 3 months I've been using it. The construction seems solid. Highly recommended, but I'd still like a full manual.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Useless features
