Review on πŸ“ˆ Efficiently Monitor Propane Tank Levels with AP Products 024-1001 Gas Level Indicator by Ray Richards

Revainrating 1 out of 5

UPDATED from 4 stars to 1! FALSE TESTIMONY!

This review has been upgraded to 1 from 4 stars. Initially I found this worked most of the time and any inconsistencies were readings that were temporarily wrong but updated to a reasonably accurate level. time (e.g. within 20 minutes). We had just returned from a hike and I almost veered off trail to fill up the tank which I thought was full but the gauge showed it was almost empty. Before I went to the store, I took the tank out of my RV and weighed it - and sure enough, it was full. The readings have been consistently wrong for over 24 hours, so this is no longer a "temporary" error in my book. When I got to camp I still had a reading of 13% and since we unplugged and turned on the fridge it was 9% the next morning so the reading seemed stable. But I remembered that on my last trip that tank was full, so I was embarrassed and very unhappy that I arrived at camp with one of my two 30# tanks "almost empty". After finding out the problem was with my 3 month old sensor and not a reminder I decided to throw it away (actually I'll try to get my money back but bottom line it's just bullshit). Going back to the old gauge - it's not that accurate, but at least it's always around the approximate level, not far in left field! Here's my first 4 star review from about 2 months ago: We have this in our RV and wanted it to give accurate propane level readings. Spring. works fine, but not always. We had a reading jump between 45% and 15% of the balance - that's too wide a range for me. It did help though and appears to be more accurate than the gauge versions that screw into the valve area. Maybe it's as good as it can be, but it's still not as accurate as we'd like.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Some minor issues
