Review on 🚵 RaceFace Chester Mountain Bike Pedal: Superior Performance for Adventurous Riders by Chris Hunt

I bought these because of the rave reviews and great price. I recently bought a used bike with clipless pedals and wanted to trade them in for a platform. I'm a size 12 and wanted bigger pedals. They meet all the requirements in this aspect. However, I am stunned by the clutch claims. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it was a dry day but there was still some moisture on the ground. I had to constantly check the position of my feet because I slipped. The nylon surface is smooth and all lugs are on the edge of the pedal. So if your foot isn't perfectly centered, just use a row of cleats, which in my experience aren't enough and can become a fulcrum for your foot to slide. I ended up replacing those pedals with One Up Component Composite pedals and the difference was night and day. They have better cleat distribution and the nylon upper has a grip pattern that helps when your foot isn't perfect.
