Two pairs of Chester Happy

Chester pedals are installed on two of my mountain bikes. They are lighter than the Saint pedals I have on my third bike. The only downside to Chesters is the pin length. They are too long. They hold up really well, but my shins have paid a price. Do not be afraid! I've since added 3mm lock washers - one each for the outer and inner pins and two for the end pins (24 total on each side) - and the grip is as secure as ever.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Out of style

Works great for sports

I haven't had flat pedals on my bike for about 15 years. Every bike I've had has had clamps, but with recent flat pedal movement and my return to mountain biking, I thought I might try flat pedals. They had a low starting price and good reviews. I was very pleased. I used them mainly to cycle around my 10 acre property in a pair of crappy shoes. not hard mountain biking but through fields and hills. My feet stay in place and it's nice to move when I want to, but when I want my feet to stay they

Spindle broke when turning on the high power

Do not buy if you are a decent cyclist. Of course, if you run the spindle a lot and can put out a lot of power, the spindle can break over time. Worst of all, this is most likely to happen when you stand up and press the pedal hard. This is the worst time she can break. I didn't have a power meter with me at the time, but I was thinking I was putting out 1100 watts on my gravel bike when it broke. I'm switching to Shimano pedals. By the way, the warranty is only one year, so I have to pay for…

less grippy when wet

I bought these because of the rave reviews and great price. I recently bought a used bike with clipless pedals and wanted to trade them in for a platform. I'm a size 12 and wanted bigger pedals. They meet all the requirements in this aspect. However, I am stunned by the clutch claims. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it was a dry day but there was still some moisture on the ground. I had to constantly check the position of my feet because I slipped. The nylon surface is smooth and all lugs…

Holds you on the bike (update)

I'm using shoes on my mountain bike right now (five dozen total) and while they're not great, these pedals keep them in place. I don't think I could slip if I tried. They are very well thought out, with a lot of space and a large surface for the foot. The composite construction is much lighter than metal pedals, but still feels solid. You also drive calmly and quietly, but do not feel free. You look great too. A huge upgrade from the clunky, squeaky, slippery, ugly metal pedals I had on my…
